4 teas for coffee drinkers

Aug 16, 2021

Coffee drinkers, it's time.  Let's take a break from your daily coffee habit and try something new. Here are 4 teas that will give you the same caffeine boost as your morning cup of joe, but with all the health benefits of tea.

1. Assam Tea

What if you want to switch from coffee, but still crave the caffeine stimulation? Then Assam tea is the perfect pick for you! (The rich colour alone is quite mesmerising.) It has a malt flavour with a bold briskness to it than any other type of brew. With only half the amount of caffeine as coffee (although about twice as much as in other black teas), you can keep yourself active for much longer without experiencing any signs of fatigue or "caffeine shocks." For added flavour, you can add a generous splash of milk and a sweetener like sugar or honey.

2. Peppermint Tea

On the other hand, if you are looking for a caffeine-free option to replace your cup of coffee with, peppermint tea is a refreshing choice as it will bring you the refreshment that you get from your morning cup of joe in a more natural way. Apart from that, you will also be benefited from the plethora of health benefits this herbal tea brings. It’s antibacterial, antiviral and rich in anti-inflammatory properties. So, it can help you with a number of health concerns such as indigestion, morning breath and bacterial and viral infections. Tea connoisseurs suggest drinking peppermint tea in its most raw form without adding any milk or sweeteners in order to preserve its full nutritional value.

3. Matcha

In recent years, matcha has grown in popularity as a great alternative to coffee due to its significant caffeine content which is able to bring you the same energy as coffee does. But, what’s different about matcha is that it gradually releases its caffeine content into your body compared to coffee which releases all its caffeine content at once. Therefore, matcha can give you a more sustained boost of energy without the “caffeine rush” you get from coffee. Not to mention, since matcha is made with minimally processed young tea leaves, it carries the maximum amount of nutrients of the tea leaf. So, this versatile beverage - whether you try it in a latte or an old-school ceramic cup with a bamboo whisk, you will be able to stay energised throughout the day and enjoy the host of nutrients the drink brings.

4. Oolong Tea

Oolong is a traditional Chinese green tea. It has a smooth, leafy taste with a woody aroma. Additionally, the fact that it is roasted will be a happy surprise for any coffee drinker. A strong brew of this tea can give a cup of coffee a good run for its money with the addition of sweet and floral notes! Similar to other green teas, oolong tea is also rich in a host of nutrients that will bring you health benefits such as weight loss, skin benefits and improved brain function.

We hope these 4 blends will make your switch from coffee to tea smoother. If you still can’t find a blend that suits you, we encourage you to reach out and let us know what kind of flavours or experiences are missing. Our team is always looking to bring more variety into our customers’ lives!
